Fans of BBC's Call the Midwife will have to wait much longer than normal for the last two episodes of series 13.

The schedule change comes as the official Call the Midwife Instagram page confirmed that the BAFTA Film Awards would replace the drama in the coming week.

Explaining to fans: "Due to the live BAFTA Film Awards next Sunday, Call the Midwife series 13 will continue in TWO WEEKS TIME – February 25 at 8pm on @bbcone."

However, many fans are disappointed by the scheduling change, as one suggested that Call the Midwife was aired on another BBC channel: "Why couldn’t it be put on BBC 2 instead? hate having to wait two weeks for the last episode."

As many others shared they would rather "watch Call The Midwife instead of the baftas."

Olly Rix discusses leaving Call the Midwife

The change comes as many show viewers have shared their concerns over the future of the popular character Matthew Aylward, played by Olly Rix.

Rix joined the BBC show back in series 10 and married senior nurse Trixie Franklin, played by Helen George, at the end of series 12.

But, reports have suggested that series 13 of Call the Midwife could be Rix's last.

The rumours of the Call the Midwife's star exit come as fans have noticed marriage troubles between Matthew and Trixie.

So far series 13 has seen the couple struggle with money as Matthew leads the family business and Trixie is busy caring for Poplar.
