Felsham home plans behind Six Bells pub refused by planners

Members of the Mid Suffolk District Council planning committee agreed to reject the proposals for land behind the Six Bells pub in Church Road, Felsham, between Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket.

It is the sixth application for the site in the last four years. 

Nicky Willshire, councillor for the Rattlesden ward on Mid Suffolk District Council, said: "Nowhere in the local plan has this site been designated as a potential development site.

Mid Suffolk District Councillor Nicky Willshere (Image: Google Maps) "There would be significant impact to the safety of local residents, with the increase in traffic and movements, especially during construction due to the location of the land and the limited access. Any additional congestion would be hazardous."

Councillor Willshire added the committee should "make it clear to the developers that this site is not suitable for development." 

The latest proposals were submitted by Arcady Architects on behalf of Lexden Homes (Colchester) Ltd.  

Previous concerns had been raised in regards to the impact it would have on the conservation area.
