The moment a car exploded in a Suffolk housing estate has been caught on camera.

Firefighters were called to tackle the blaze in Kempson Drive in Great Cornard, near Sudbury, during the early hours of Monday morning.

As a result of the fire the car was completely destroyed and there was some damage to a garage and home.

The video shows the car, which is already engulfed in flames, explode. The explosion was caused by an oxygen tank left inside the vehicle.

Nobody was injured as a result of the blaze.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire completely destroyed the car and caused minor damage to a nearby garage and house. The fire caused what is understood to have been an oxygen cylinder in the car to explode, resulting in a loud noise heard throughout the area.

"Two appliances from Sudbury attended the incident, which was dealt with by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using two hose reel jets.

"There were no casualties and the cause of the fire is believed to have been an electrical fault in the car."
