Drivers are being warned of a 34-mile diversion route while a village road is closed this weekend.
The A1092 Lower Road in Cavendish will be closed from 8am to 6pm on Sunday.
While the route is closed, Openreach will be carrying out urgent roadworks in the area.
According to the Suffolk County Council website the official diversion route for the road closure is 34 miles long.
The diversion is expected to add on around an hour to motorists' journeys.
The route includes A roads because some vehicles like HGVs cannot go down smaller roads that others would use as shortcuts.
Last year a stretch of the A1092 in Long Melford was labelled as "one of the worst stretches of roads" by Suffolk County Councillor Richard Kemp.
Local residents in Long Melford believed there were around 40 potholes in Windmill Hill which connects the village to Glemsford.
Suffolk Highways has since repaired the road and filled in a number of potholes.
