Two schools have been locked down after reports of a group of males with a knife.
Police received reports of three young males in Wells Hall Road next to Thomas Gainsborough School, in Great Cornard, Sudbury, at around 2.45pm on Friday.
A secondary and a primary school were then put into lockdown as a precaution while police attended.
Thomas Gainsborough School then confirmed in a social media post that it was asked by police to make its site secure and safe at around 3.25pm.
Students were asked to stay in their classrooms until further notice.
Fifteen minutes later, at about 3.40pm, the school added that police had made them aware that the area was safe and students could leave the building.
Police have since also confirmed the lockdowns are no longer in place and pupils from the school have been allowed to leave.
They added that no arrests have been made but officers remain in the area.
Thomas Gainsborough School has thanked the community for their patience and cooperation.
