A scrap metal dealer has had plans to extend its site given the green light.
Proposals from Assington Autos to make alterations to its salvage yard in Barracks Road, near Sudbury, were first submitted to Babergh District Council in 2021.
The firm sought to extend its site in order to "resolve operational issues" caused by the current layout and give the applicant "sufficient space to meet the demand for vehicle recycling".
Plans include creating a one-way system around the site, as well as erecting five new buildings for associated works.
Several concerns were raised during the application process, including in regards to noise and increase in traffic.
However, Suffolk Highways said the proposal would not have an impact on the existing highway.
A committee report said: "The potential for residential amenity to be adversely affected by noise and general disturbance has been an on ongoing concern for residents, the wider community and the parish council, as evidenced in the representations received primarily in May 2021 when the application was first submitted."
The applicant stated the proposed changes will allow for a "significant proportion" of the noisiest activities on site further away from neighbouring properties.
Plans were approved by Babergh District Council, subject to conditions.
Those conditions include a restriction on the operating hours of the site.
A full planning grant report said the facility should only operate between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday and from 8am until 1pm on Saturday.
HGV movements should be limited between 7am and 5pm.
In addition, conditions have been imposed that no heavy or noise generating machines should be used on Saturdays, while there should also be no working on Sunday.
