A 14-year-old boy who was arrested following a huge fire in Sudbury has been re-bailed.

Fire crews from all over the county, as well as police officers, were called to the blaze at the former Delphi site in Newton Road at about 5.10pm on Tuesday, May 28.

The following day a police spokesperson confirmed a teenage boy had been arrested on suspicion of arson.

The spokesman said he was arrested after reports of suspected criminal damage to a former industrial unit.

He was taken to Martlesham police station for questioning and bailed to return to police on July 6.

A Suffolk Police spokesperson has since confirmed the teenager has been rebailed until July 27.

The fire spread to about 50% of the building, which is about 100m by 100m, according to a spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service at the time and a police cordon was put in place while emergency services worked at the scene.
